I don't have a big house. Where will you give the massage?
A (mostly) cleared floorspace of 6 ft x 10 ft is all I need for a standard massage. I am willing to assist in moving small to moderate pieces of furniture but I do not have movers insurance. I have done massages in kitchens, foyers, and dining rooms. If you would like to receive your massage outdoors that may be accomodated if there is little to no wind or you remain clothed. If you don't have that much space, you can receive a chair massage instead.
Do I have to be naked?
NO! Many people enjoy the pampering of having a swedish massage where moisturizing lotion is smoothed into their skin while the tension is being eased out of their muscles. I have many clients that chose to get most all of the benefit from this massage while wearing a pair of shorts. I have even done effective, hour long massages on a person that choose to wear a tee shirt and sweatpants. You dress to your level of comfort and modesty is maintained for the comfort of both of us with conservative draping.
My time is short. Will I need to shower after the massage?
That depends on the type of massage. There are many massages that require nothing more than a quick make-up check in the mirror before you jump back into the rest of your day. Deep tissue, sports, and myofascial massage may include little if any lotion at all due to the type of movements and presence of clothing. Chair massage, since it is entirely through clothing does not require lotion but I may work a moisurizing cream into your hands and arms during the dry season. With a full swedish or a prenatal massage the lotion may leave you feeling well-oiled and your hair may have the "wet look" around the edges. With prior discussion I can take steps to save your hair.
I had massages in a spa setting and once at my chiropractor's office, but never in my home. What happens differently?
When you call for an appointment we will discuss not just when and where but also what your goals are: pain management, relaxation, increasing athletic performance, increasing circulation, or just pampering. I will knock on your door at a agreed upon time. I will have with me the table you will lie on for your massage, a set of sheets to keep you covered, cushioning for your comfort, massage cream, a timepiece and a medical intake form. I may also bring aromatherapy and tranquil music, if you like. You point to where you want me to set up and I will ready the space as you provide me with a listing of aches, pains and general medical history. If you have music you like you can play it. If you have well behaved pets they are welcome to curl up under the table. Once we've agreed on the goals of the session I will step out of the room to wash my hands and you will disrobe, lay on the table and cover yourself with the covers provided.
Do you take credit cards or checks?
Cash is prefered but checks are accepted. Credit cards are not accepted at this time.
Are you covered by my insurance?
I am not participating in insurance at this time. If you policy does cover massage and you are a regular client, I may enroll.
Will you sell or "loan" or "trade" my personal contact information?
No. I consider myself a healthcare professional and hold myself to client confidentiality.
Who will see my medical intake form?
You, me, individuals/entities you give me permission to show and employees of musclemusher that require access to serve you. The only exception is if I am legally bound to release them.
